2007 BLITHFIELD SAILING CLUB - MIDLANDS FINAL
Honda Youth RIB Challenge
A competition designed to attract youngsters into the sport of
powerboating. With a first prize of an Avon 5.5m RIB with 40hp
Honda four-stroke outboard for the club of the winner.
With the finals being held at the Southampton Boat Show later
in the year, the West Midlands Regional Finals are to be held at
Blithfield Sailing Club on Saturday 1st September 2007.
Come along and watch - there are some very tallented youngsters
taking
part.
There were two heats, 8 to 12 years and 13 to 16 years.
There are two categories (age groups), 8 – 12s and 13 – 16s
who will compete in Avon 5.5m RIBs with 40hp Honda four-stroke
outboards. The contestants will complete a preset course consisting
of slaloms, man-overboard and a reversing manoeuvre. Although speed
is of the essence, smoothness and skill are the attributes, which
will most assist the winner.
There is a Powerboat Instructor in each boat at all times attached
to a safety lanyard / killcord.
