CHALLANGE - WEST MIDALNDS
A competition designed to attract youngsters into the sport of
powerboating. With a first prize of an Avon 5.5m RIB with 40hp
Honda four-stroke outboard for the club of the winner.
Regional heats are held at Sailing Clubs within the West Midlands
with the National Final usually held at the Southampton
Boat Show.
Andy Felthouse (Blithfield Sailing Club) along with Jerry Blyth
coordinated the 2009 West Midlands events, so thanks to you for
your time and
experience.
A great deal of time is also spent by members within the clubs
in promoting this event and preparing the youngsters for their
challange day, with hours given up in voluntry training.
If your club supports and promotes the Honda RIB Challenge then
why not consider hosting the event in 2010. Contact Jerry Blyth
for details of whats required. It's probably less than you think.
If your club is not participating in this event yet, then again
talk to Jerry or Gareth Brookes to arrange a visit from one of
the Regional Developers who can assist the club with their preparation
and offer guidance on the insurance and legal matters which some
clubs believe is a barrier to participating in the event.
The 2010 RIB Challenge is now being prepared. We shall advise
you of the dates and venues as soon as we are informed.
There is a Powerboat Instructor in each boat at all times attached
to a safety lanyard / killcord.
